The property is hilly and mostly on a south-facing slope. Buildings are situated on the highest parts of the 20-plus acres with a paved access driveway. Below the cluster of buildings, the garden gets plenty of sun, the soil has been enriched with cover crops and there are some food-producing perennials. Handy to the garden is a root cellar that can do double duty as a secure storm shelter.
Over 100 varieties of wildflowers are on the property, plus rhododendron gardens. You can’t see any neighbors, but they are great neighbors. The property is 15 acres of forest and 5 acres cleared for buildings and garden.
The timber on the property has been managed according to the best agricultural practices, and the forest is mainly secondary growth with large trees and a fairly thick understory.
TVA Natural Resource Conservation Land surrounds the property on three sides, providing amazing amounts of privacy, exploration area, nature observation, and lake access.
A bonfire area will accommodate at least 30 people for a great place to gather around and tell tales.
The hiking trail will take you to a gorgeous overlook of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The property is currently under the Greenbelt Program in Monroe County.
